Uniswap wallet is a mobile wallet created by Uniswap. If you’re new, Uniswap is the most popular decentralized exchange. However, this wallet signals that Uni is dipping a toe into more consumer-friendly products.

Who are the target users?
After reviewing the features, the Uniswap wallet is targeting causal web3 users. It seems they are trying to attract new web3 users while also providing a familiar experience to their existing users.
The application has limited features with a very minimal UI. The core functions are Buy, Send, and Receive.
You can also browse tokens and wallet addresses. The swap function mimics the desktop experience. This is expected as Uni has branded the swapping experience in DeFi.
Onboarding
The app opens by highlighting the wallet’s core features.
Best Way to Swap
Collect and Showcase NFTs
Connect to crypto apps
Multiple Chains, One Unified Experience
Onboarding was lightning fast. I imported my existing wallet in this walkthrough. The whole process took less than a minute.
Usefulness
This would be a perfect application if I were a causal swapper. The casual web3 user doesn’t need tons of data, market information, or cross-chain functions. It takes the desktop Uniswap experience and puts it in your pocket.
This wallet has minimal functions compared to the tools I currently use, but I am not their target user.
Pain Points
The wallet doesn’t have a web browser function. So I need to use Wallet Connect if I want to connect to applications. The experience is very disjointed.
I found it difficult to go back and forth between chains without disconnecting and reconnecting.
Suggestions
I find it hard to make sweeping suggestions because Uniswap intentionally makes this a straightforward wallet experience. However, I wish there was a browser within the app. Retail users are used to doing everything on their phones, and Wallet Connect doesn’t always play nice on mobile.
Without a browser within the app, it creates a back-and-forth paradigm between the wallet and dApps. This is cumbersome if you are doing more than simply swapping in web3.
Similarly, A browser extension would allow users to have a unified Uniswap experience on a desktop.
Rating
However, I am honestly perplexed why the release of this wallet was so political. Given the Apple Store predicament, I am sure there were tough decisions about scope.
Everyone is magical. I give this product three wands. 🪄🪄🪄
Congratulations to the designers @ Uniswap and the challenges they faced.
Shoutout to Fred Zaw, Bryan Ku, Chelsy Wu, and other designers working on this project.
Thanks!
